This stunning vintage 1920s Italian woman's watch brooch is crafted in Sterling Silver and engine turned Blue "Guilloche" Enamel. The color of the enamel is deep and intense.
It is accented with small gold spots, so the effect is of a starry night sky! The back of the brooch is hallmarked "0.925" for 925 Sterling Silver and makers mark "90" in a shield.
The face of the watch is an ivory white color, with gold numbers. "JUVENIA" and "Switzerland" are written on the face. Guilloché (or guilloche) is a decorative technique in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into an underlying material via engine turning, which uses a machine of the same name, also called a rose engine lathe. This mechanical technique improved on more time-consuming designs achieved by hand and allowed for greater delicacy, precision, and closeness of line, as well as greater speed.
The dimensions of this piece are as follows: the round watch measures 17.2mm (diameter) x 10.2mm (depth excluding dial and bale). The brooch is 23.9mm wide and the total length of the watch brooch (top to bottom) is 30.5mm. The brooch clasp and pin are fully functional and not bent.
